Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MapsGuessr handles information when you use the website and its game services.

Last updated: September 26, 2026.

Information you provide

If you create an account, MapsGuessr may process information such as your username, email address and authentication information.

Passwords are not stored as plain text. Authentication information is processed to provide and secure your account.

Gameplay information

MapsGuessr may store information related to games you play, including scores, guesses, game results, player identifiers, assigned locations and competitive rating information.

This information is used to operate the game, calculate results, maintain leaderboards, prevent repeated locations and support multiplayer features.

Guest players

MapsGuessr may create a temporary guest identity for players who use features that do not require a registered account.

Cookies

MapsGuessr uses cookies where necessary to maintain authentication sessions, preserve account security and operate website functionality.

Google Analytics loads only after you accept analytics cookies. You can reject optional cookies and still play. Use Cookie Settings in the homepage footer to accept, reject, or change your choice. We remember your choice in this browser for up to 180 days; clearing browser storage removes it. Necessary session cookies are not disabled by rejecting analytics.

Google Analytics

With your permission, MapsGuessr uses Google Analytics to understand website visits and usage. It also receives limited technical failure reports: the failure category, page category, application build and, when available, a server request reference. These reports exclude exception messages, account details and game payloads. Google may process browser, device, traffic-source and approximate geographic information. Withdrawing consent disables further Analytics collection by this website and removes its accessible first-party Analytics cookies. It does not erase information already collected.

Analytics information helps improve site performance, usability and gameplay.

Advertising

Advertising is currently disabled while the advertising and consent setup is being completed.

Accepting analytics cookies does not authorize advertising cookies. We will update this notice and provide the applicable advertising choices before enabling advertising.

Google Maps and Street View

MapsGuessr uses Google Maps and Google Street View to provide map and geographic imagery functionality.

Your use of these features may involve communication with Google services and is also subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy practices.

Service providers

MapsGuessr relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate the website.

These include Cloudflare for hosting, database storage and multiplayer coordination; Google for Maps, Street View, sign-in and optional Analytics; and Resend for transactional email delivery.

Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect account and gameplay information.

However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain account and game history, prevent abuse and comply with applicable obligations.

Your choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion or restriction of personal information.

Use Cookie Settings in the homepage footer to manage optional analytics. Necessary authentication and security features continue to work when analytics is rejected.

Age requirement

MapsGuessr is intended for people aged 14 and older. If you believe a child under 14 has provided personal information, please contact us.

Contact and privacy requests

For privacy questions or requests concerning access, correction or deletion of your account and personal information, email nasserelb10@gmail.com. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder. Please do not send passwords or verification codes.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as MapsGuessr develops or its services change.

The latest version will be published on this page together with the updated date.
